Vagamon, A Beautiful Place in Kerala

Vagamon

Vagamon
is a wonderful tourist attraction in Kerala. Kerala is known as God's own country where one can enjoy natural beauty. The state hosts many attractive and popular tourist spots. Vagamon is one among them where visitors can enjoy majestic view of Western Ghats.

Here in this post I want share our experience which we got by visiting Vagamon. Let us see where it is located and about some interesting spots around this place.

Location

Vagamon is located in Kottayam district of Kerala at a good elevation of 1,200 m above sea level. From Tamil Nadu tourists can reach this place by travelling via Cumbum, Kumuli, Vandiperiyar, Kuttikkanam and Yelapara. The place is very near to Yelapara.

Places to Visit in Vagamon

Vagamon is surrounded by many interesting tourist places. Of course tourists will not be able to enjoy all the surrounding tourist attractions in a single day. At least two or three will be required to visit all the spots there.

A Watch Tower from where we can enjoy Natural sceneries

Since we are living at Cumbum, we planned a single day visit to Vagamon. We decided to travel by our own car. People with own cars can only enjoy Vagamon. Because, all the spots in Vagamon are located a few kms. away from one another.

We started our journey at an early morning on 15th August. After having climbed Kumuli, we can feel good change in climate. Cloud dwelling mountains, chill wind added the spirit to our travel. On the way to Vagamon, we selected a lovely, neat and peaceful place to have our breakfast. After having finished our breakfast, we further started our travel to Vagamon.

Within half an hour travel we reached Vagamon Adventure Park. At first I had thought, it would be a quite normal hill view. But, after reaching there we were really impressed by the unique natural beauty. We all were mesmerized by the natural beauty of mountains and chill weather. Though it was the holiday, the number of tourists is very less. So, we were able to enjoy our privacy there. Interesting features of the Adventure Park are two 80 feet high watch towers. We climbed on one of the towers and enjoyed breathtaking deep valley views.

Apart from watch towers, there is a Burma bridge to have a thrill walk. The bridge is net like. You will be tied safe with rope before walking along the bridge. But, you have to pay some amount to get this thrilling experienc

Another attraction there is zip line. They are charging rs 300 per head. But, your body weight should not exceed 65 kg to travel along the zip line. On the other side there will be many battery cars by which one can see the beautiful sceneries. To travel by battery car, you need to spend rs 300 per head. As we were already satisfied with the splendid beauty of hills, we avoided the costlier battery car travelling.

The adventure park is extremely spacious and it provides many snack bars and tea shops. We decided to have a cup of tea or some fruit juices.

Then we moved to the second spot of pine forests. That was also very enjoyable. There are many hundreds of tall pine trees which made a dark shadow. Only problem and disadvantage here is slope. We felt somewhat difficult climb up or climb down there.

Pine Forest

There were many other tourists who also visited the pine forest. We spent about more than one hour and then went to another spot of big rock. As all of us were so tired to climb up the rock, we cancelled that point to visit.

Now our fourth spot to see is boating. We enjoyed boating for half an hour in a small lake. They charged 25 rs per head. Before boating we took our lunch. After boating we travelled to Meadows where we can view a huge meadow. If it was cloudy weather with chill wind, we would have still a great experience. Frequent sun shine and absence of chill wind made us irritating and decided to depart from the meadows.

Paranthumpara

Our next destination is Paranthumpara which is located about 40 km away from Vagamon. This is where one can view and enjoy thrilling and stunning mountain views.

Mesmerizing View from Paranthumpara

The deep valley view can be enjoyed safely as they have constructed a strong iron fence to ensure the safety of visitors. It was about 5 pm. Then, we enjoyed mist and wind which lashed that place. Our children played with kites on a beautiful meadow there. We took a coffee and bajji in a snack stall.

Then we started to travel back to our native place Cumbum. At about 8 30 pm we reached safe our home. In deed we really enjoyed this unforgettable trip.
